Southern Shores Regional Forum 2011The Southern Shores Regional Forum was held in Denmark in Aug-Sep 2011, and involved 79 individuals (61 volunteers) over two days. Participants and community groups actively involved in coastcare activities were attracted to share their experiences and achievements.

Field site visits added practical value and realistic case studies to the presentations and discussions about projects and coastal issues. We went to:
  • Torbay DunesTorbay Dunes, hosted by the Elleker Progress & Sporting Association, National Green Jobs and the City of Albany
  • Dunksy Track West Cape Howe National Park, hosted by the Dept Environment & Conservation – Albany District and Great Southern Institute of Technology
  • Peaceful Bay, hosted by the Peaceful Bay Progress Association

Presenters also discussed their coastal projects during presentations at the Shire and Centre for Sustainable Living. What an amazing breadth of coastal projects underway!

The forum was hosted by South Coast NRM and SCMG, with the support of Caring for our Country and Coastwest.
